One Earth.
One Family.
O.E.F. Seventh Generation grew from a vision of people living in deeper relationship with one another and with the Earth. Conceived by Nathan Standing Bear Rouse, the organization centers community, ceremony, stewardship, and the responsibility to carry what matters forward for future generations.

O.E.F. Seventh Generation was conceived by Nathan Standing Bear Rouse around a belief that the Earth is not simply a resource, but a sacred inheritance. Its work brings people together around care for the natural world, human dignity, shared spiritual traditions, and the idea of one Earth family.

Eric helped establish O.E.F. Seventh Generation as a nonprofit and became its president in 2017. He brought to it the same combination of teaching, music, writing, production, and curiosity that shaped so much of his life.

A project of relationship, teaching & continuity.
For Eric, O.E.F. was not separate from the rest of his life. It brought together many of the things he returned to repeatedly: education, music, story, cultural exchange, community, and the question of what one generation carries forward to the next.
His O.E.F. biography describes him as a teacher, musician, guitarist, violinist, songwriter, writer, poet, and producer. The organization also records his long collaboration with Nathan Standing Bear and their shared appreciation for the values and spirit of Indigenous cultures.
As president, Eric wrote to the O.E.F. community about the importance of remaining connected even when traditional gatherings were not possible. In January 2021, after two virtual gatherings, he described O.E.F. as “flourishing, alive and well.”
